Pularumpi School

  • 1 min read

Pularumpi School is located at Pirlangimpi along the northwestern coastline of Melville Island. The school caters for students from Preschool to Year 8 and just over 60 students are currently enrolled. Pularumpi School was originally a Catholic Orphanage. It became a Catholic School in the 1970s and was subsequently handed back to the Northern Territory Government. Through all programs offered at the school there is a strong recognition of the inclusion of Tiwi culture and the community. To further their secondary education, students move from Pularumpi School to either the Tiwi College at Pickataramoor, or to boarding colleges in Darwin and interstate.
